Mexico has played an important role in Natalia’s journey.
Her connection with the country began when she lived in Mexico City as part of a university exchange program.
That experience pushed her outside her comfort zone. It also taught her how to live on her own in another country, meet new people, and enjoy the beauty of not having everything under control.
Since then, Mexico has remained a place of inspiration.
From the energy of Mexico City to the ocean-centered lifestyle of Puerto Escondido and the natural beauty of Tulum, the country continues to influence her creativity, independence, and sense of purpose.
Q&A with Natalia García
1. What is your purpose in life, and what inspires you each day?
My purpose is to build a life that truly feels like my own.
A life filled with freedom, experiences, movement, and a deep connection with nature.
I also want to create things that are meaningful to me.
Discovering new places inspires me deeply. So do the people I meet along the way, the ocean, sports, and seeing how far I can take my own ideas.
There is not just one way to live life. You can create your own path if you have the courage to do it.
2. Tell us about what you do and the impact you hope to create through your work.
I’m an entrepreneur, content creator, and founder of Odyssea.
Odyssea is a Colombian swimwear brand born from my love for the ocean, travel, and an adventurous lifestyle.
Through my content and through Odyssea, I try to communicate more than just a beautiful image.
My goal is for women to feel confident, free, sexy, and comfortable being exactly who they are.
I also want to show that you can build a business around a life you love. You do not have to choose between working and living.
3. How do you inspire others through your profession, business, art, or everyday life?
I think I inspire others by showing the real process.
Not only the beautiful moments, but also everything behind building a brand, traveling, starting over, and making different choices.
My life is not always perfectly planned.
Sometimes I simply follow what makes me feel alive.
Seeing someone do that can give another person the courage to ask what they truly want from their own life.
4. What moment changed the course of your life?
One of the most important moments was deciding to build something of my own and starting Odyssea.
Creating a brand from scratch forced me to know myself better. It also pushed me to take risks and trust my own decisions.
Kitesurfing and traveling changed the way I see life.
They made me realize that I did not want to live waiting for vacations to feel free.
I wanted to build a life where that feeling could be part of my everyday life.
5. What has been the greatest challenge or adversity that helped you grow?
Probably learning how to do many things on my own.
Another challenge has been accepting that entrepreneurship is not a linear journey.
There have been moments when I questioned my decisions, my business, and myself.
Each of those moments taught me to become more resilient. They also helped me trust my intuition and understand that mistakes are part of building something.
One of my biggest lessons has been learning to stop waiting for everything to be perfect before moving forward.
6. What value would you never compromise, regardless of the opportunity?
My freedom.
For me, it is very important to make my own decisions.
That includes choosing where I want to be, who I want to work with, and how I want to live.
Professional growth matters, of course.
But I do not want success to come at the cost of the freedom I am trying to build.
7. Who has had the greatest influence on your life, and why?
The people who have influenced me the most are those who taught me to trust myself.
They have also inspired me to dare to live differently.
Every person who comes into my life leaves something behind.
Many times, the people we meet while traveling, working, or sharing a chapter of life can change the way we think.
8. How has Mexico influenced your personal or professional life?
I have had the opportunity to visit Mexico several times.
The first time was a couple of years ago, when I lived in Mexico City during a university exchange program.
From that moment, I felt a very special connection with the country.
Mexico became much more than a destination in my life.
It was one of the first experiences that showed me I could step outside my comfort zone. It also showed me that I could live on my own in another country and navigate a new environment.
Mexico taught me to enjoy freedom and not having everything under control.
Its culture, people, energy, and diversity of places have inspired me so much.
9. What is your favorite Mexican event, celebration, or tradition, and why?
Definitely, Día de Muertos.
I had the opportunity to experience this celebration while living in Mexico.
It was incredible to witness such an authentic and meaningful tradition firsthand.
I love how Mexican culture transforms something often associated with sadness into a celebration full of color, music, flowers, and life.
The way families honor and remember their loved ones feels very special to me.
10. What is your favorite place in Mexico to disconnect, recharge, and find inspiration?
I would choose between Puerto Escondido and Tulum.
I visited Puerto Escondido last year and loved its essence as a surf town.
There is a relaxed lifestyle there. Everything revolves around the ocean, surfing, and enjoying the moment without rushing.
Tulum inspires me in a different way.
Its landscapes, nature, and cenotes are incredible to me. They make me feel connected to nature and also inspire creativity.
Both Puerto Escondido and Tulum inspire me, but in completely different ways.
11. What advice would you give someone who wants to live a more inspired and purposeful life?
Stop waiting for the perfect moment.
We often spend too much time trying to figure out the right path.
In reality, we have to start walking to discover it.
Traveling, moving to a new city, starting a business, learning something new, or choosing a different life can be scary.
It can also open doors you did not even know existed.
A purposeful life does not have to look the same for everyone.
To me, it means building a life aligned with what truly makes you feel alive, even if it is not the most conventional path.
