MAIAHATS originates from the vibrant Mexican city of San Miguel de Allende, brought to life by the talented architect and interior designer, Mayra Morán.
Mayra’s creations are a fusion of various materials like wool, palm, recycled leather, suede, velvet, antique coins, gold and silver accents, feathers, jute, and eco-friendly cotton cords. Through her brand, MAIAHATS, she places great emphasis on craftsmanship, innovative design, and sustainable practices, ensuring that each hat serves a purpose beyond just fashion.

Title: CEO – Founder @maiahats, Architect, Interior Designer, and lover of art, photography, and nature.
I’m currently listening to… Son Acosta’s podcast “Maldita Comodidad.”
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… with my best friends who are my 2 sisters, Lia and Sandra Morán.
One thing I cannot travel without… my camera with a lens and a drawing notebook; I love photography and drawing.
I’m inspired by… Architecture, Interior Design, cultures, photography, art, fashion, and travel.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be… the power to believe in your talents, express them, love them, and turn your dreams into reality.
My favorite place I’ve visited… Paris.
How did MAIAHATS start? They emerged organically and naturally on the streets of San Miguel de Allende.
What is the social commitment of MAIAHATS? To create jobs for artisans in Mexico, artisans in Guanajuato, and artisans in San Miguel de Allende. To use sustainable materials and inspire the younger generations.
What has been the most rewarding experience of creating MAIAHATS? How each piece and design connects with the person who buys it, creating a wonderful story anywhere in the world.
What is the main inspiration behind MAIAHATS? My inspiration comes from everyday life. I’m a very visual person. Images are in my mind and form the basis of my inspiration. Colors, shapes, textures, environments, nature, trends – everything inspires me to create each piece with love.
Everything related to color, texture, and shape excites me, and I enjoy imagining how to express it in a hat. When I create each piece, I do it with the thought that it will be worn by a special person.
