New Design-Driven Hotel Coming to Puerto Vallarta

In Puerto Vallarta, Stay by Suzanne Koch

Book your plane ticket because Puerto Vallarta will soon be home to Hotel Amapa, a new boutique hotel that will showcase contemporary Mexican design. Named after the neighborhood it will be located in just one block from Playa Los Muertos in the Zona Romantica, the 55-room hotel is the result of developer David Harries desire to bring great design to a culturally rich place like Puerto Vallarta. The hotel will be in close proximity to the city’s Old Town attractions of restaurants and galleries and away from the all-inclusives.

Set to open February 2018, Hotel Amapa is bringing together Antoine Ratigan of Circleminds and Nicole Haime of NMH Creative to lead the look and feel of the space. Inspired by Luis Barragan and other national figures, Circleminds drew upon the idea of a purist approach in regards to colors and form when conceiving the design. Local craft objects, barro coverings from Oaxaca by David Pompa, weaves by fiber artist Meriella Motilla and aritsanal hammocks from the Yucatan are just a few of the features guests can expect to see.

“We are introducing a new vibe for hospitality in Puerto Vallarta with the opening of Hotel Amapa,” says David Harries, Partner and Developer. “It is important that we put our guests in the Mexican state of mind; protecting Puerto Vallarta’s heritage while celebrating the future with genuine and original design, service, and food and beverage offerings. With Hotel Amapa we want to create a place where guests visit and live like a local and leave having had an authentic and inspiring experience.”

Design Hotels currently represents 20 unique properties across Mexico including ones like Papaya Playa Project, Casa Malca, Roses & Xocolate, Hotel Escondido and more.
