Nemi Eco Villa is a one-of-a-kind environmentally-responsible living experience. Designed and constructed by Max Living and Design, Villa Nemi uses the natural flow and grade of the property along a jungle-lined hillside in Amapas to accentuate the incredible ocean views from every point. The villa was constructed using repurposed, local or sustainable materials. Villa Nemi takes green luxury to a higher level with 15 solar panels which operate all bedrooms while the entire property is connected to city electricity. Solar panels afford significant savings on electricity bills.
Repurposed shipping containers are the building blocks for all the bedrooms, the bright and open living-dining space and even the swimming pool of Villa Nemi. Containers are an ideal material for coastal living because they are structurally sound and designed to withstand the elements. Additionally, reclaimed wood and other ecological and sustainable materials have been used throughout the home. All materials and labor were locally sourced in the construction of this unique project.
Given its ideal hillside location, the home was designed to take advantage of the natural air floor for year-round comfort. However, energy-efficient individual air conditioning units cool the bedrooms and the spa room off of the pool.
The 40-ft. swimming pool is a natural ecosystem of plant life along with sand filters and UV pumps, creating a safe, holistic swimming experience. No chemicals or salt are used in the process. An outdoor bar and lounge area, as well as expansive decking, is an excellent place to gather during the day or the evenings.
Additional features of the home include parking for 3-4 cars, grey water collection, filtration and distribution throughout the grounds, and the potential for expansion. Villa Nemi is suitable not only as a private residence, but can easily be converted into a B&B or a boutique hotel.
