Puerto Vallarta is back in tourism business after an amazing year. Tourism numbers skyrocketed in 2015, hitting a new tourism record. In fact, the region finished off December with more than a 90 percent occupancy rate and almost 1.8 million visitors venturing to the cultural region. This year the numbers are expected to grow even more thanks in large part to increased air traffic. Added direct flights to many airlines and an increased number in international visitors is helping the area to grow quickly and luxuriously. In fact, in the next few years Puerto Vallarta will experience a boom in luxury hotels and accommodations. Read on for some of the most anticipated stays.
W Punta de Mita (pictured): Opening on May 1 of this year, W Punta de Mita will be the second W property in Mexico, making it the only country in Latin America with two W hotels. The hotel will have 120 guest villas and will feature many of its signature amenities like W Living Room, W Lounge and WET outdoor pool deck. FIT, a workout facility and AWAY, a 4,000-square-foot spa will also adorn the hotel that will be located in Los Veneros, an exclusive oceanfront development in Riviera Nayarit.
One & Only Mandarina: Another property that will be located in the Riviera Nayarit region will be One & Only Mandarina, set to open in 2017. The beachfront resort will have 145 villas and include exotically named ones like Ocean Cliff Villas, Tree House Villas and Mountain Villas. The resort plans to emphasize its rainforest location and will offer guests the same jaw-dropping luxury seen at its other properties.
One & Only Santa Maria de Xala: Unlike the previous two properties, One & Only Santa Maria de Xala will sit south of the Puerto Vallarta international airport by about 60 miles in Costalegre. The resort will span 2,965 acres and will feature 75 villas and suites with private pools. A residential component will be a unique feature to this hotel that will be built hacienda-style. There is yet to be a scheduled opening date.

Along with these four properties, recent openings of Hotel Mousai, who recently received AAA Five Diamond Award and Casa Kimberly, the chic, former-estate of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton have proven the growing demand for luxury travel to the Puerto Vallarta region.
