Auberge’s newest property Susurros Del Corazón is scheduled to open March 2021 in Punta de Mita. Here, we chat with Anna Cooley, developer of Susurros Del Corazón at SV Capital, on what to expect and what makes the new resort so special.
Why did Auberge choose Punta de Mita as the location for their next Mexico property?
We really feel like Punta de Mita is the next big Mexican destination and wanted to be at the forefront of the resurgence of this region. It has incredible accessibility and airlift into the Puerto Vallarta Airport (only a 40 minute drive to Susurros) from the United States but it really feels worlds away with its secluded surf beaches and tiny fishing villages that dot the coastline. The region also has so much culture and incredible tropical weather, which is key when searching for new luxury resort locations.
What will set Susurros apart from the other luxury hotels in the destination?
Susurros will be the first new luxury resort developed in Punta de Mita in the past 10 years, so the area is excited to have new inventory at the ultra-luxury level. The property that the resort sits on is really the heart of the resort and we developed the design of the buildings to be integrated with the landscape to highlight everything the property has to offer. 1,800 linear feet of white sand beaches perfect for swimming, snorkeling and surfing; breathtaking cliffsides and rich jungles are all part of the property and our hotel suites and villas take advantage of the entire area.
What can you tell us about the culinary offerings?
There will be four unique dining options at Susurros for guests and villa owners, including the indoor/outdoor main restaurant for breakfast and dinner with a menu that offers a delicate balance between contemporary Latin flavors, locally sourced ingredients and international culinary traditions, all served in a casually sophisticated beach front locale; the casual, toes-in-the-sand Taqueria & Bar with menu items that use the freshest local catch and ingredients from around the region to tell stories and create taste memories; the Poolside Dining & Bar with light bites and an adventurous drink menu including Mexican craft beer, mezcal and tequila, and cocktails made with fresh squeezed juices and local herbs; and In-Villa Dining where our chef will come to your private villa and craft a menu personalized for any special occasion, your dietary requirements and personal tastes. Additionally, room service is always available to enjoy in the comfort of home.
Will there be any amenities or small touches that will be completely unique to Susurros?
One of our greatest amenities at this property is the beach. It’s sheltered on both sides by large cliffs and encompasses a deep white sand beach. The waves are gentle enough for swimming, but are also perfect for learning to surf and boogie board. Surf camps for adults and children will be available for resort guests and owners as well as a host of boating, fishing, sailing, and snorkeling.
Is there a specific target traveler that Susurros will attract? (i.e. families, couples, etc.)
Luxury travelers across North America will be our target market. We have tailored our resort offering to couples and families alike. As the affluent traveler is increasingly vacationing with groups of friends and large-generational families we not only have a king guest suite, but also larger three-, four-, five- and six-bedroom villas with full kitchens and living areas. This gives our guests the best of both worlds – being part of a resort but also feeling the comforts and privacy of being in a home.
