The Fifth Annual Festival Gourmet Barceló Returns This September

Calling all foodies. Barceló Maya Grand Resort is hosting its fifth edition of Festival Gourmet Barcelo September 8-15. The event will feature eight gala dinners and renowned Mexican and international chefs showcasing the country’s best cuisine. A total of 21 chefs, two traditional cooks, Mexican wineries, premium local distilleries and more will highlight the tasty event.

Highlights of the fifth annual event include:

  • Michelin Star-level gala dinner led by two of Riviera Maya’s most talented kitchen wizards: chef Alejandro Sánchez, Gastronomic Director at Royal Hideaway Playacar, and Maximiliano Sola, Executive Chef of Passion by Martín Berasategui
  • A showcase of European techniques using Mexican ingredients by Chef Ryan Steyn and Martín San Román from Baja California
  • Traditional Mexican cuisine with contemporary techniques from chefs Israel Loyola, Roberto Solís and Pablo Salas
  • Unexpected fusion between Asian and Mexican gastronomies from chef Salvador Orozco (Bull & Tank restaurant group) and chef Pedro Abascal (Primo restaurant in Playa del Carmen)
  • An unexpected combo of dishes from surprise guest chef Darren Walsh
  • The exquisite culinary creations of Barceló Maya Grand Resort’s own executive chefs, Julio Reyes, José Manuel Diego and Alejandro López
  • Sweets by pastry chef Iván Millán, known for his appearance on Discovery Home & Health’s Latin American TV series Next Great Baker: Latin America, as well as his two published books surrounding his acclaimed reduced sugar desserts
