Since its inception in 2007, the Mayakoba Golf Classic has made history as one of the finest tournaments on the PGA TOUR, both by spectators and players. As the first PGA TOUR event to be held outside of the U.S. and Canada, the classic boasts the largest amount of prize money ($7.2 million) of any golf tournament in Latin America. It is also the only pro event in the Latin American region that offers to its champion, an invite to the Masters.
This year’s event, taking place Nov. 5-11, will host 132 professional golfers participating in four rounds of stroke play competition in the Riviera Maya at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon Golf Club.
Adding to the already highly anticipated event this year, is the recent announcement of Jordan Speith’s commitment to compete in the 2018 event. The three-time Major Champion is currently ranked No. 11 in the Official World Golf Ranking. This will be his first career appearance at Mayakoba.
Joining Speith, eight other players in the top 45 in the world will play at the Mayakoba Golf Classic this year including Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau, Kevin Kisner, Billy Horschel, Matt Kuchar, Brian Harman and Charley Hoffman.
Representing Mexico will be Abraham Ancer, Roberto Diaz, Carlos Ortiz, Jose de Jesus Rodriguez, Oscar Fraustro and Armando Favela.
Guests will also be able to enjoy Mexican culture, food and tequila, presented by Tequila Patron.
