A year ago, Mother Nature let loose on the Baja California Peninsula, bringing 125 mph wind and hours of rainfall with her. The direct hit fell upon the resort communities and popular tourist destinations of Los Cabos, which includes Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. Destroying many resorts and the nearby airport, damage was seen everywhere. Shattered windows, leveled neighborhoods, and flooded floors were aplenty. Tourists were left with no way home, local residents were stunned and Hurricane Odile went down in history, tying Olivia (1967) for the most intense known hurricane to touch the Baja Peninsula.
As the recovery process began, the Los Cabos area banded together and seized the opportunity to rebuild into an even more magnificent and lavish destination city. One look at the tropical peninsula and it’s clear to see they have accomplished just that. Bigger pools, dazzling exteriors, inventive restaurants, and opulent lobby’s leading to richly adorned rooms populate Los Cabos. Creative and new ideas have been seen popping up in all of the resorts, welcoming a fresh yet familiar vibe to the sun-saturated city.
Many of the top resorts in the area have spent the year rebuilding and have already reopened their doors to guests. Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, One&Only Palmilla, Esperanza, and The Resort at Pedregal are just a few. However, thriving Cabo will soon see the arrival of entirely new hotels. Some resorts expected later this year are the JW Marriott, an additional Auberge Resort, and Breathless in December. The near future will see the esteemed Park Hyatt and Ritz-Carlton arrive in Los Cabos, both of which just made Forbes 10 Of The Best Luxury Hotel Brands In The World list.
It’s safe to say that if you’ve ever daydreamed of experiencing Los Cabos, whether it be your first time or tenth time, now is the time go. Whether you plan on sprawling out on the warm beaches or burrowing in your hotel room’s sheets, Los Cabos is ready and waiting for your arrival.
