The architecturally stunning Mar Adentro hotel in San Jose del Cabo has been taken over by Viceroy Hotel Group. Opening as the Viceroy Los Cabos, the hotel will be the 14th property for the group and also a member of The Viceroy Icon Collection.
Viceroy Los Cabos is the brands first collaboration with Rodina Group, an investment firm specializing in hospitality, real estate, transportation and infrastructure across Mexico, who acquired the hotel in December 2017.
The hotel, whose main attraction is its unique design by Miguel Angel Aragonés, will debut new updates and renovations. Led by Al Arquitectura de Interiores, a design firm out of Guadalajara, updates will include the addition of a beach bar and beach pool and an expanded, redesigned state-of-the-art fitness center and spa. Two of the four dining outlets will be structurally updated and re-concepted. The new features will join already established amenities like a cinema room, versatile meeting spaces and more. Upon completion the hotel will feature 194 rooms, suites and villas and 50 residences.
Viceroy Los Cabos will debut in the spring, with its launch coinciding with the 2018 Gala de Danza, set to take place on March 17, which the resort will host. The gala is a celebration of dance and music, celebrating artistry and creativity. Founded and directed by Christina Lyon, the festival features some of the world’s top dancers, choreographers and musicians.
Viceroy Los Cabos will be the hotel group’s second property in Mexico, joining Viceroy Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen. In addition to the Cabo location, Viceroy has plans for openings in Serbia, Argentina, Panama, Portugal and Vietnam in coming years.
