Three Reasons to Purchase Real Estate in Cabo

In Live, Los Cabos by Suzanne Koch

Looking to invest in the luxury real estate scene in Mexico? According to International Living, the country tops its 2017 list of the “Best Places to Retire in the World” and with the strength of the dollar against many Latin American currencies, now is a great time to make the jump down south. Cabo, in particular, is experiencing a surge in growth, quickly making it one of the most sought after markets in the country.

We have some tips from Tom Law, a Los Cabos real estate veteran, on why Cabo is a top choice for buyers. Law has made sales in some of Cabo’s most exclusive communities like El Dorado Golf and Beach Club, Chileno Bay Club, Palmilla, Diamante and Querencia and he now serves as the Director of Real Estate for Rancho San Lucas, a luxury residential and resort development by the Solmar Group that’s debuting its first phase in late 2017.

1. Booming Luxury Real Estate and Resort Brands

The UNCTAD’s 2016 Global Investment Trends Resort lists Mexico among the top five host economies in Latin America and among the top 20 in the world. As the demand for high-end luxury homes grow, new master-planned developments have continued to pop up along the coastline like recent ones including Chileno Bay, Maravilla and Rancho San Lucas, all of which will be home to both real estate and resorts. Resort arrivals coming soon include the Four Seasons Resort at Costa Palmas, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Montage Los Cabos and Auberge’s Chileno Bay Resort & Residences which recently opened its doors to guests. With such high-end brands moving into Cabo, the destination continues to be a prime investment.

2. Easy Transition

With its close proximity to the States, Los Cabos is one of Mexico’s easiest locations to transition to. Additionally, low-cost living, safety, year-round sunshine and access to commodities found back home make it even easier to retreat to. Major airlines are also continuously adding direct flights from big cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas. Aside from an easy trek to the Baja, the government has made the actual act of purchasing real estate even easier with changes to the Mexican Constitution. In Cabo, real estate purchases can be completed in four easy steps: the offer, the contract, bank trust (Fideicomiso) and closing.

3. Well-Rounded Lifestyle

From golf courses and luxury spas to fine dining and outdoor activities galore, Los Cabos has something for everyone. Yearly international events like the Los Cabos Film Festival, the culinary fest Sabor a Cabo, the Los Cabos Surf Open and various tennis and fishing tournaments make for an active community while private gated developments offer the peace and quiet that still attracts families and upscale buyers.
