Las Ventanas al Paraiso has introduced the latest way to see and be seen. It’s not a new pool or fitness center, but the first ever hotel speakeasy piano bar, La Botica.
Inspired by the Prohibition Era, La Botica, (translated as drugstore), is centered around herbal apothecary, featuring ambiance, live entertainment and herbal- and wellness-minded cocktails. Guests enter through a doorway leading them into a space reminiscent of an herbal medicine pharmacy with a stunning display of herbs, spices and flowers, all paying homage to the 1920’s era. Even on the way out, guests exit through an unassuming exit disguised as a vintage Coca-Cola refrigerator.

La Botica has more to offer than just its looks. Leading the creation of the cocktail menu is award-winning Bar Manager Philippe Zaigue, who also co-founded Hanky Panky, the famous speakeasy in Mexico City’s Juarez neighborhood. At La Botica, he’s created an apothecary-themed cocktail menu with 12 signature creations. Think a Saffron Daquiri and Bee’s Wax Old Fashioned, among others. The menu also features 10 house classics, ranging from the Prohibition Era up to the new millennial, and a selection of low-proof cocktails and mocktails.
Rosalia de Cuba, the resort’s first Artist in Residence, will provide entertainment at La Botica with a mix of Cuban, Caribbean, Latin and international rhythms. The Cuban-born singer has performed at the Wiesen Jazz Festival in Vienna and the New Orleans Jazz Festival in the U.S., among others.
The operating hours for hotel guests and visitors will be Tuesday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., with live music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
