The Casa Dracula is the largest and most famous historical house in Todos Santos. It was built in 1852 by Don Antonio Domingues, the first sugar baron. The name comes from its unique Gothic arched windows and there is said to be treasure buried somewhere within the walls. The Domingues family owned the Casa continuously until 1985 when they sold it to a group of young American writers and film directors. The new owners have restored the out-buildings, reinforced and membraned the roof and added an upstairs bathroom. Otherwise, the grand building’s original character has been preserved almost in tact.
