On October 25, Los Cabos will be home to some of the fittest athletes around. The grueling and intense IRONMAN triathlon will blaze it’s way through the tropical city as leisurely bystanders sit back and watch. According to Travel Weekly, about 1,500 participants will take on the challenge, either competing in the IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 races. The IRONMAN begins with a 2.4 mile swim through the sparkling waters of the Sea of Cortes, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run through the Puerto Los Cabos hotel zone. The race’s finish line will sit in front of City Hall in San Jose del Cabo. The IRONMAN 70.3 will be the same race, but only half the distances.
“The dramatic terrain of Los Cabos has attracted leisure visitors for decades, and we’re pleased that Ironman has additionally recognized the setting as an ideal backdrop for its world-famous athletic competitions,” said Ruben Reachi, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
Besides the gorgeous backdrop and beautiful scenery, one of the most attractive factors of this competition is the 40 qualifying slots to the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii.
