Fancy Sips: Cotton Candy-Topped Cocktails at Grand Velas Los Cabos

In Dine, Los Cabos, Stay by Suzanne Koch

Sugar and spice is always nice, but it’s all about sugar and Champagne this fall at Grand Velas Los Cabos. Piaf, the resort’s classy French dining outlet, is paying homage to singer Edith Piaf’s song “La Vie en Rose,” by serving a cotton candy-topped Moët & Chandon Rose Champagne cocktail. Guests will be able to enjoy the pink drink on arrival before indulging in tasty French cuisine.

Menu highlights at Piaf include terrine of foie gras mi-cuit on spicy bread, served with a poached pear stuffed with saffron chutney and Sauterne jelly; sea bass crusted with saffron potato scales served with Baja California-glazed vegetables and a Champagne sauce with lavender; and fresh herb-crusted rack of lamb topped with a morel mushroom sauce and a quinoa-stuffed leek cannelloni.

Even Piaf’s design celebrates the late singer. Inspiration for the dramatic outlet was drawn from France in the 1940s to 60’s, when the singer was at the height of her career. Dine among Damasco marble, green Onyx, petrified marble and high-gloss wood.

The cotton candy-topped Moët & Chandon Rose Champagne cocktail will be served at Grand Velas Los Cabos from Aug. 19 through Dec. 19, Edith Piaf’s birthday.
