Acclaimed Chef Gabriela Ruíz will take the culinary reigns at the luxurious One&Only Palmilla resort to host a unique gastronomic experience.
On April 12–13 and 29–30, Chef Ruíz will bring flavors all the way from her native Tabasco, Mexico to Agua, One&Only Palmilla’s stunning clifftop restaurant that overlooks the Sea of Cortez, mixing ingredients and recipes of the southern regions of Mexico with the cuisine and landscapes of the Baja.
The two-day pop-up dinners will feature two seating options: The first, on Agua’s patio for $130 per person (or $60 for teens ages 12-16), or a romantic moonlight table for $150 per person (or $70 for teens ages 12-16). Each seating includes a welcome cocktail along with the five-course menu. Additional drinks are available á la carte and a wine pairing can be enjoyed for $90.
Originally from Comalcalco, Tabasco, which is recognized as the birthplace of cocoa, award-winning Chef Gabriela Ruíz is a passionate ambassador of Mexican cuisine and its culinary traditions. Her roots in the culinary world began in her family’s kitchen, inspiring her to study gastronomy at the Southern Culinary School in Mérida, Yucatán before working her way through some of the best restaurants in Mexico.
Named one of the most powerful women in Mexico by Forbes Magazine, Chef Ruíz has audio gustatory synesthesia, a condition that allows her to translate music into flavors. In 2021, Chef Ruíz opened her second restaurant Vuelve Carmela in Villa Hermosa, Tabasco, followed by the most recent opening of Vuela Carmela inside the Mexico City Airport in 2022.
