This November, Pez Gordo Gallery, Snell Real Estate and The Shoppes at Palmilla are hosting an artistic and charitable event. Baja Burros on Parade, the largest public art exhibition in the history of the Baja will feature 15 locally-made, large-scale fiberglass donkeys, painted by 15 different, local Baja-area artists. The event will kick off with a public exhibition inauguration on Friday, November 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Shoppes at Palmilla. The donkeys will be available for public viewing along the walking corridor of the shopping center through April 2017 when the event will close with a charity auction. One-hundred percent of the auction’s proceeds will be donated to three charitable Los Cabos organizations includng Liga MAC, A.C.; The Los Cabos Humane Society and The Boys and Girls Club of Los Cabos.
Each fiberglass donkey will be painted by a different Baja-area artist and will reflect that artist’s expression of creativity. The roster of artists includes Hugo Aguilar, Gudmaro Aviles, Esther Burboa, Jaznum Fragoso, Liz Gonzalez, Pedro Gutierrez, Leticia Lebrija, Fernando Nafarrate, Karla Nieto, Hugo Ortega Lopez, Joaquin Pineda, Jennifer Power, Wilber Sanchez, Tanya Talamante and Jim Williams.
The event was inspired by the 2011-2012 success of the Fish Parade, Los Cabos’ first fiberglass sculpture exhibition that was organized by Pez Gordo Gallery and took place at The Shoppes at Palmilla where it raised more than $30,000 and was viewed by more than 3,000 locals and tourists.
