Getting some decent shut-eye can sometimes be overlooked and even put on the back burner as our busy schedules take precedence. To curb the idea that sleep isn’t important, Westin Hotel & Resorts has announced its latest program that promotes better sleep habits and overall wellbeing. The movement comes just in time for World Sleep Day (March 17) and Westin has partnered with World Sleep Society to encourage sleepy-heads to show off their “best rest” on Instagram and Twitter by using the hashtag #SleepStrong. World Sleep Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sleep health worldwide.
“One of the most frequently asked questions that our sleep specialists receive is: ‘What is the perfect amount of sleep?’” said Dr. Clete Kushida, President of World Sleep Society. “The short answer is at least seven hours in length, but a truly restorative sleep depends on duration as well as continuity and depth. Understanding the impact of sleep on physical and mental health is more important than ever before, and we are thrilled to have partners like Westin Hotel & Resorts, who share our commitment and can amplify our mission to advance sleep health worldwide.”
In order to get that healthy amount of sleep, now through April 2017, Westin Hotels & Resorts are offering guests a “Bedtime Call,” a friendly reminder to wind down and get some rest. Guests are able to request the evening call through the Westin Service Express team who, guided by recommendations from World Sleep Society, will schedule the call based on when they need to be up in the morning. A similar program has long been offered at The Westin New York Times Square after Sean Verney, General Manager of the hotel, observed a trend in wake-up call requests coming in at times that made it impossible for guests to be getting the right amount of sleep.
“Nearly 65% of people sleep fewer hours while on the road; so empowering travelers to sleep strong and rise better reinforces our commitment to guests’ well-being and the growing understand that sleep impacts everything from productivity to overall happiness,” says Brian Povinelli, SVP and Global Brand Leader of Westin Hotels & Resort.
In addition to the Bedtime Call, Westin supports healthy sleep habits in other ways including the brand’s signature Heavenly Bed, Sleep Well in-room dining menu and the new Sleep Well Lavender Balm, a complimentary bedside amenity that’s infused with the calming essential oils of lavender and chamomile.
Experience Westin’s sleep amenities at its many locations including The Westin Los Cabos Resort Villas & Spa; The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta; The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas & Spa, Cancun; and The Westin Resort & Spa, Cancun.
