There is much to talk about the cultural diversity that houses the Mexican capital. From museums, galleries and production. In recent articles Inmexico has tried to give a hint of the amount of art and the overall importance of it in Mexico and especially in the wonderful Mexico City.
A space that has a must to visit is the UNAM, National Autonomous University of Mexico. Not only because it is the largest university in the country and in Latin America, but by the dimension of the institution: from its physical size to the ideologically body. It is a city inside the Mexico City and the amount of students and teachers and inhabitants per day within it exceed the number of entire populations in different cities around the world. The history of its architecture and its birth requires an article extended separately.
Today we are going to talk about one of the Museums, the first Contemporary Art Museum that was generated in the country within the Cultural Group UNAM: MUAC.
The main task as a museum is to disseminate, communicate, promote and preserve contemporary art. The space functions as a container for exhibitions, a space where dialog interacts with different disciplines, meeting point to experience different sensations and acquire knowledge in order to produce in its viewers a highly reflective experience.
The building was inaugurated in the year 2008, was the work of the architect Teodoro González de León and is located at the Cultural Center University of the UNAM. It is of extreme importance because it was the first museum to be possessor of the first collection of contemporary art in the country. It has been a new paradigm for artistic creation, for the thrust of new artists, the dialog with international artists and a space for the development of activities and multidisciplinary samples.
The museum counts with a restoration workshop under the command of the restorer of Contemporary Art Claudio Hernandez, a close space with a spectacular collection and a team of work complete and fully trained, space designers of first quality and the curator of the museum is the one and only: Cuauhtémoc Medina.
The space has as well a cafeteria and store to finish the perfect journey. There are always activities such as workshops, conferences, workshops for students and adults and dialogs on the exhibitions to and with the public. It is necessary to keep up to date with the online website and the cultural life of the city.
