In 1990 Carmen Cordera Lascurain formed the Mexican Gallery of Design (GMD) as a platform to encourage and promote design in Mexico by looking for the most important and outstanding Mexican and foreign brands. GMD is based on a selection of innovative products of high quality, offering them to the public through its shop of a wide variety of styles and options. It is a forum to get the designer in touch with society and with the specific demands of the public. It is a way to make it easier for the design to be seen and also to be able to access it. It seeks to know the formal and functional aesthetic aspects and to get to know the production of objects that are made in Mexico and the rest of the world.
The Mexican Gallery of Design connects different areas of design in a single space including graphic design, industrial design, interior design, jewelry, textiles and handmade products. In this way it provides meaning to the display of the products. Since its founding in 1990 GMD has presented more than 750 designers and brands throughout 150 exhibitions promoting the work of designers. It is a space that you need to know to get closer to the proposals that exist right now in Mexico and in different countries.
