Along the sunny stretch of Baja sand, where resorts abound and swimming pools stretch into the blue horizon, there is Marquis Los Cabos, a five-star, all-inclusive resort whose neighboring hotels are far from reach.
The bright white exterior of the hotel, mixed with its minimalistic design blends the surrounding elements of desert and ocean together to reveal a paradise truly reflective of the Baja. As I entered through the gates into a sparse roundabout with few cars, I noticed the minimal decor and extravagant ocean views. The widely-expansive, open-air lobby sits under a rounded roof as a nod to the arch of Los Cabos and welcomes in cool and breezy winds, beckoning you to skip check-in and race down to the water’s edge.

I was pleased to learn that my third-floor room was mere steps from the elevator. Perched on the third floor, in the center of the resort, my room hovered just to the left of the dramatic waterfall that pours out of the resort’s center into its one of three pools. I couldn’t help but notice that there’s not a bad room in the hotel, as all are positioned to face the sea. Sleek floors, oversized wooden furniture and warm hues dress up the inviting suites that are set up for pure relaxation. A Jacuzzi bathtub sits separate from the walk-in shower and separates the bathroom from the rest of the suite. Set under an alcove, the bathtub allows you to lay back and gaze out at the coast while conveniently offering up a large area to set your margarita, glass of wine…or both, while you bathe.

While I didn’t get the opportunity to try out the six restaurants or two bars that accompany the hotel, I took full advantage of the 24-hour room service which offers a variety of selections, both Mexican and American. Light and fresh lunchtime offerings like the ceviche and aguachile are perfect midday bites while the chilaquiles are everything you could ask for when waking up. For those who choose to venture further than their suite door, an array of dining options await like Sakke, which offers exotic pan-Asian cuisine, teppanyaki tables and infinity pool views. Fresh seafood is served up at Dos Mares and the resort’s signature restaurant by Thierry, Canto Del Mar, is a French journey through four courses of sophisticated cuisine.

During the sunny daytime hours, stretch out at one of the three beachfront pools, two of which are infinity and border the sand’s edge, or take advantage of the resort’s daily offering of activities like water aerobics, beach volleyball, dance lessons and more. And if a true relaxing vacation is what you’re after, slip into Spa Marquis, 13,000-square-feet of soothing treatments that incorporate clay, salts, seaweeds and oils.
As an adults-only resort, the atmosphere of Marquis Los Cabos is peaceful and ideal for a quick getaway or a prolonged retreat.
