NEW YORK TO TULUM GOES DIRECT: THIS WINTER JUST GOT WARMER

In Tulum by Paula Landa

United Airlines brings New Yorkers closer to one of their favorite Caribbean escapes with new nonstop service to Tulum this December.

New Yorkers already know Tulum.

They know the white-sand beaches, the jungle, the restaurants, the barefoot afternoons, and the nights that somehow turn into mornings. They know Tulum’s unmistakable mix of bohemian style, sophisticated design, wellness, and Caribbean energy.

Now, getting there gets easier

Beginning December 19, 2026, United Airlines is scheduled to connect Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) directly with Tulum International Airport (TQO)—putting Tulum approximately four and a half hours from the New York metropolitan area.

Cold morning in New York. Warm afternoon in Tulum.

A more connected Tulum

The New York route is part of a much bigger story.

As direct air service expands, Tulum is becoming increasingly connected to some of the most affluent markets in the United States, Canada, and beyond. What was once a relatively remote Caribbean escape is becoming easier to reach for international travelers, second-home owners, and investors—without losing the character that made the destination famous.

For Deelum Concepts Founder Michael Dee, that growing connectivity represents an important part of Tulum’s next chapter.

“New Yorkers already have a relationship with Tulum,” says Dee. “What changes now is the ease of getting here. As Tulum becomes directly connected to more of the world’s leading markets, it becomes even more attractive—not only as a place to escape for a few days, but as a place to own a home, spend more time, and invest.”

Tulum’s next chapter

Tulum continues to evolve through new infrastructure, international hospitality, ambitious architecture, and a growing luxury residential market. At the same time, it holds onto the beaches, jungle, and free-spirited energy that made people fall in love with it in the first place.

For New Yorkers staring down another winter, the equation just became wonderfully simple:

Four and a half hours. No connection. Beach.

This winter, Tulum goes direct.
