The highly anticipated Tulum Jaguar Park has opened its doors, granting visitors even more opportunities to connect and explore this piece of paradise in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Known locally in Spanish as the Parque del Jaguar, Tulum’s new Jaguar Park comprises two parks: the Tulum National Park and the Protection of Flora and Fauna Jaguar.
Spread across a staggering 2,900 hectares—or more than 7,000 acres—this expansive sanctuary is nearly three times the size of New York City’s Central Park.
The Jaguar Park of Tulum stands as a testament to Tulum’s commitment to preserving biodiversity and the natural habitat of the majestic local jaguar.
Tulum on the Global Stage
The development of Tulum’s Jaguar Park signifies a pivotal moment in the city’s evolution. A brand-new international airport, called the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport, recently opened in Tulum, while the mega-train Maya, or Tren Maya, will connect Quintana Roo with four other states across southeastern Mexico.
Tulum’s Municipal President, Diego Castañón Trejo, hailed the new Jaguar Park as a transformative force that will solidify Tulum as a must-visit global travel destination. Castañón Trejo expressed gratitude to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa for their dedication to making this dream a reality for visitors to the Mexican Caribbean.
“We will have a new natural reserve and also through cultural, recreational and tourist attractions, any Tulum resident will have access to this historical project full of natural riches,” Castañón Trejo said in a statement. “Mayan culture is in harmony with transformation. Tulum is transforming.”
All There is to Do at Tulum’s Jaguar Park
Plentiful biking and hiking paths wind through the Tulum Jaguar Park, revealing dramatic vistas of the sparkling Caribbean Sea. Seven accessible beaches with pristine white sand, invite relaxation and exploration. The park proudly hosts Tulum’s impressive Mayan ruins, showcases enchanting cenotes and also boasts a beautiful butterfly grove.
How to Get to Tulum’s Jaguar Park
Tulum’s Jaguar Park seamlessly connects visitors to nature, sustainability, culture and tourism, all in one magnificent location. An electric train connects the Mayan Train Station to the pyramids and the public beach for eco-friendly and convenient access. The government also plans to add another electric train route from the Cobá Avenue Station to the Archaeological Zone and the public beach.
In a bid to reduce traffic and enhance the overall experience, car circuits are being rerouted, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to traverse the area with ease. Visitors can enjoy numerous entrances to the beach, plenty of trails nestled deep in the lush jungle vegetation, a museum, jogging trails, abundant opportunities for eco-tourism and more.
