Cartier is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished companies worldwide, its relationship with Mexico began several decades ago and has been represented by important celebrities such as María Felix. As any luxury brand usually does, Cartier has positioned itself in this cosmopolitan city through several stores, but the most beautiful and imposing one is located on Masaryk, the spectacular avenue full of splendid boutiques and restaurants in Mexico City. For the reopening of its Flagship Store, the legendary jewelry firm created in Paris in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, commissioned Marisol Centeno to design an installation that would transmit the roots of Mexico, aligning the affinities of contemporary design and the savoir faire of Cartier. Centeno is a renowned Mexican Textile Designer and CEO of Marisol Centeno Studio; her work is distinguished for using innovation in artisan processes and implementing high and low technologies. Her collections have been presented at Dubai Design Week, Rufino Tamayo Museum, Franz Mayer Museum, Museum of the Americas in Denver, National Center for the Arts, Mexico Space in Montreal and Design Week Mexico, among others. Chichini is the name of the special edition created by her with metal sculptural panels, fabricated with vegetable fibers made with cotton fabric and metallic thread. The installation is inspired by the dance of the Guaguas, who are originally from Papantla, Veracruz. The panels narrate metaphors through the abstraction of the sophisticated clothing and plumes of the dancers, which show us another look of its sumptuousness and celebration. The doors of Cartier Masaryk are open to everyone who wants to know this magnificent installation, as well as contemplating the fantastic watches and jewelry pieces that only a brand like Cartier can show.
