The chic Thompson Hotels brand has just opened another property in Mexico, adding to its growing portfolio.
Thompson Zihuatanejo is located along Playa La Ropa and was newly renovated with a fresh design and boutique atmosphere. With just 56 rooms, the beachside property features the brand’s signature mid-century look among coconut trees and breezy palms. Think a tropical escape with a subtle urban flair of parota woods, brass details, Oaxacan clay fixtures and Mexican artwork. Each room features living areas, private balconies or terraces and most even have private infinity edge plunge pools.
Chef Miguel Baltazar leads the culinary program with a focus on incorporating the area’s tradition for fire cooking and sourcing fresh ingredients from the hotel’s organic garden. The hotel’s signature dining outlet CENIZA (“ash” in Spanish) features many dishes prepared in a roasting cage. Dine under a palm-thatched palapa while digging into eats inspired by fire, embers and smoke. HAO is the hotel’s day-to-night restaurant and beach club, with a all-day menu and seasonal cocktails.
