This $10 Million Cabo Home is On the Market for the First Time Ever

In Architecture & Design, Live, Los Cabos by Suzanne Koch

A rare home in Cabo San Lucas has recently gone on the market for the the first time ever, and it just might be one of the most architecturally stunning estates to grace the cliffs of Pedregal. Perched 250 feet above the sparkling Pacific Ocean, Casa Finisterra seems to stand alone among the boulders and surrounding desert landscape. Its clean, sleek lines and contemporary features make it stand out among its rugged, contrasting surroundings.

Currently owned by Claire Creatore, whose husband is the late Luigi Creatore (songwriter and producer for Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke and more), the 7,500-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home has never been on the market until now and is being offered at $10 million.

Its modern design is thanks to architect Steven Harris (AIA) and optimizes sunlight, views and open-air spaces. The house is composed of reinforced concrete and high-strength laminated glass that stretches from ceiling to floor in some rooms while other areas of the home are enhanced by indoor-outdoor living.

The interiors, designed by Lucien Rees-Roberts, feature unique elements like hidden skylights, walls of glass rods, slender clarestories and reflecting pools–all thoughtfully designed to play with the dancing sunlight at different times of the day. Even at night, the surrounding exterior is illuminated by the interior light flooding out through the large glass walls.

Perhaps the most eye-catching element of the home is the 50-foot pool that juts out across the rocky cliff into the stretching horizon. Enclosed by walls of stone and concrete, the pool has a private feel to it, separating it from the rest of the home.

Two retaining walls define the house and cleanly separate the public and private wings. The private L-shaped east wing has the master suite, media room and gym which all share a floor while the public west wing is comprised of the living room, dining room and kitchen. Between the two wings, an outdoor living room floats within a small pool and frames a view of the ocean.

Overlooking the pool is the study, which is separated from one of the guest suites by a sandblasted glass shower. The guest suites make up the lower level of each wing of the house, each with their own recreation area.
