There’s not a whole lot that we don’t love more than a good margarita which is why we’re so excited that Feb. 22—National Margarita Day—is just around the corner. Whether you’ll be in Mexico or not, the day calls for unlimited sipping. Thanks to Velas Resorts, we have five different recipes to quench your day. Each recipe is from a different Velas Resort and is just as good as the last, so get out our cocktail shaker and start pouring up these tasty margaritas.
Cilantro Margarita, Casa Velas
- 1.5 oz. Tequila
- 1 oz. Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 3 oz. Lime or lemon zest
- 1 tbsp. Cilantro, minced
Smoky Guajillo Rita, Grand Velas Los Cabos
- 1.5 oz. Smoked white tequila
- .5 oz. Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 3 Grapefruit slices
- .5 oz. Sprig of rosemary
- .5 oz. Yellow lemon juice
- .5 oz. Simple syrup infused with Guajillo chili
- 1 tsp. Chappuline salt (grasshoppers roasted with chili, salt and lime, ground)
Margarita Maya, Grand Velas Riviera Maya
- 1.5 oz. Tequila
- .5 oz. Triple Sec or Cointreau
- .5 oz. Xtabentun
- .5 oz. Lemon juice
- .33 oz. Simple syrup
Cucumber & Habanero Chili Margarita, Velas Vallarta
- 2 oz. Tequila
- 1 oz. Cointreau
- .5 oz. Simple syrup
- .5 Cucumber
- .5 Habanero chili
- 2 tbsp. Lime juice
Traditional Margarita, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit
- 1.5 oz. Tequila
- 1 oz. Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 1 oz. Lemon juice
- Dash of salt
Directions for all margaritas: Place three to four ice cubes in a cocktail shaker along with recipe ingredients. Blend or shake until frosty. Rim the glass with lime and salt. Top with the margarita mixture and decorate with a slice of lime and a short straw.
